The Festival's outdoor stage features
wide variety of local, national and international musicians.
Festival Buttons
There is no admission charge for many Festival activities including the Art Exhibit,
Art Market and Music on the
Beach. It does cost the
Harrison Festival Society a significant amount of money to make these activities
available; therefore, we ask that you buy and wear a $2.00 Festival Button. You
will be showing your support for the Festival and you will not be asked for donations at
each Festival site.
If you are able to make a larger donation when buying your button that would be greatly
appreciated.

ANGUS LYON & RUARIDH CAMPBELL Saturday, July 7 1:00pm & Sunday, July 8 2:00pm
Angus was a British Champion accordion player by age 13 and over the last ten
years, has toured and recorded with Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens), Paul McCartney,
and a host of Scottish traditional musicians. Ruaridh is a
'fiddle master',
equally at home playing classical, pop or traditional and winner of the
prestigious Glennfiddich Fiddle championship. On Line: Lyon and

MUSHFIQ ENSEMBLE Saturday, July 7 2:00pm &

Musician, artist, actor and composer Mushfiq Hashimi is originally from
Afghanistan, and has founded a music and visual art school in Ottawa to promote
South and Central Asian arts and heritage. The ensemble features Mushfiq on
lead vocals and harmonium, Said Moheb Hashimy on tabla, Cindy Babyn on violin

BIJOUX DU BAYOU
Saturday, July 73:00pm Hailing from
the swamps of our provincial capital, this band can't
really describe their style of music "but
it's
a lot of fun to dance to!"
Although still strongly Cajun and Zydeco rooted, you can hear Celtic, Calypso,
Swing and Rock coming through Bijoux's
distinct sound. It's
a musical gumbo that's

BLUE MOROCCO
Saturday, July 7 5:00pm Born in
Algeria, Blue Morocco leader Djamal Kremba was part of the 1980s boom in Rai
music (Khaled, Cheb Mami etc.) and played at festivals around the world since
the age of 14! Now living in Victoria, BC, Djamal plays the mandole
(traditional Algerian guitar) and composes many of his own fun and dance-able
pieces to promote a message of love, joy and peace.
AUGUST
Sunday, July 8 1:00pm Multiple award winners Rae Armour, Beverley Elliott, Linda Kidder and Meg
Tennant are successful solo artists who have joined forces to create a powerful
musical experience. Pristine four-part harmonies with guitar, bass and
percussion are presented with warmth and humour. These are women of a certain

MASABO CULTURE COMPANY

This dynamic ensemble formed of hereditary West African master musicians and
dancers fill the air with soaring melodies and driving rhythms. Masabo is a
feast of traditional songs, stories, athletic dance and stunning musicianship
that brings thousands of years of African history to the stage with an explosion

MARYEM
TOLLAR ENSEMBLE
Sunday, July 85:00pm Egyptian-Canadian singer, composer and songwriter Maryem Tollar has worked
with guitarist Jesse Cook, founded several bands from diverse cultures (Maza
Meze, Doula) and is regarded as one of the finest Arabic vocalists in Canada.
Her repertoire includes traditional songs, hundreds of years old, as well as her
own compositions.
MIHIRANGI
Tuesday, July 10 7:00pm Paying homage to her Maori roots, Mihirangi's
music runs from danceable rhythms to lyrics evoking quiet reverie. She performs
acoustic roots and funky R&B with her own band sound that she creates live in
front of the audience. Using a loop pedal, she layers her vocals into intricate
harmonies with beat boxing, acoustic guitar and tribal rhythms.

Old Man Luedecke left the big city of Toronto, met a girl in the Yukon, fell
in love, bought a banjo and fell in love again. He sings his songs accompanied
only by his loving five string, foot stomps and the occasional yodel, blending
hokum and inspiration into entertainment for young and old. He's
still sweet on his Yukon girl... and the banjo.

Born in London to a Yorkshire mother and Nigerian father and now based in
New Zealand, Paul started playing guitar at age 11, beginning a three decade
career. Known for his soulful voice and sprightly guitar, he has recorded seven
albums, toured the world and has opened concerts for Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Taj
Mahal and Crowded House.

& Saturday, July 14 2:00pm Few musicians who have just turned 30 can look back on a 25 year career!
Alexis Puentes, aka Alex Cuba, started as a tot in his family's
band in Cuba and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the island's
indigenous genres of music. He is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer,
whose latest album Humo de Tabaco won a Juno Award. On Line:

has been playing traditional music inspired by the Quebec repertoire, with a
uniquely creative touch. Storytellers, singers and musicians, Les Tireux have
developed a unique repertoire called 'modern future',

KUTAPIRA
Sunday, July 155:00pm A talented young group of rising stars on the West Coast world music scene,
Kutapira plays a tasty mix of Zimbabwean marimba melodies and spicy Afro-Cuban
rhythms. They have cut a CD, started touring, performed at the UNESCO World
Urban Forum (where they got 500 people from the UN dancing together) and the
oldest member is only 19.
